If the vacation entitlement year is a standard one, 12 months after the date of hire, the employee will be entitled to a minimum of two weeks of vacation time. The employee will also be entitled to two weeks after completing each of the next four 12-month vacation entitlement years.

Vacation pay must be at least four per cent of the "gross" wages (excluding any vacation pay) earned in the 12-month vacation entitlement year or stub period (where that applies). Employment Standards Act gives most people the right to 2 or 3 weeks of paid vacation in a year. They earn their vacation time by working 12 months for the same employer. If they've worked less than 5 years for the employer, they get 2 weeks of vacation in a year.
